About the role

Root Pediatrics is hiring a pediatric physical therapist in Bozeman, Montana — part-time. You’d work with children and families on gross motor development, mobility, strength, and balance — evaluating, planning, and treating one-on-one in a purpose-built pediatric space.

Pediatrics here bends to the child, not the other way around. You adjust session length to what a kid actually needs that day. You choose the location of service around the child too — the clinic’s peds gym, or home-based early-intervention visits when that’s what serves the family. And you’re never doing it alone: fellow pediatric PTs, occupational therapists, and a speech-language pathologist are down the hall, so multidisciplinary problem-solving is a conversation, not a referral form.

New grads are welcome. What matters most to us is pediatric experience — fieldwork and clinical rotations with kids count for more than years in practice somewhere else. If you light up helping kids reach milestones and move with confidence, we want to talk to you.

How We Work — and Why Therapists Stay

You are the expert here, and the advocate for your patient’s care. That isn’t a slogan — it’s the operating model. You decide what’s best for the people you treat, every session is one-on-one, and nobody is ever double-booked. Your clinical judgment is why we’d hire you, so we don’t override it with a schedule.

A few practical things we’ve built because they matter to real life:

  • Paid documentation time, included as needed depending on your schedule load — charting isn’t homework you do for free.
  • Real schedule flexibility. Life has family demands, trips worth taking, and days that need to bend. We adjust schedules to make time off actually work — that goes for part-time and full-time alike.
  • The same benefits at part-time as full-time — and health insurance is fully paid once you’re over 25 hours a week. The full list is on our careers page.

How Hiring Works Here

It starts with a phone call — no committee, no personality quiz. If we both like what we hear, you’ll come in and interview in person with someone you’d actually be working beside, see the space, and get honest answers about the caseload. We’ll respond to your application within the week.

An Honest Note About Bozeman

Local candidates, this is your hometown advantage — we’d love to hear from you. If you’d be relocating: Bozeman is a genuinely wonderful place to live and work, and it is genuinely expensive. We can’t offer relocation assistance, so please come with clear eyes about the cost of living. Plenty of people make it work and love it here; we just won’t pretend the math is easy.

Day to day

What you'd do

01

Comprehensive evaluations

Assess each child’s motor development, strength, tone, balance, and gait, alongside their history and what the family is actually worried about.

02

Develop tailored treatment plans

Design developmentally appropriate, play-based plans targeting motor milestones, mobility, coordination, and confident movement.

03

Administer therapeutic interventions

Deliver hands-on, one-on-one treatment for gross motor delays, gait differences, neurological and genetic conditions, and post-injury recovery.

04

Collaborative care

Work closely with parents, caregivers, physicians, and our OTs and SLP on a child-centered plan that builds independence.

05

Monitor and adapt treatment

Track each child’s progress and adjust the plan as they grow and change, including equipment and orthotic needs.

06

Family education and support

Coach parents and caregivers so the work carries over at home, where most of a child’s hours actually happen.

07

Contribute to how we practice

Share feedback with the team on our therapy practices, processes, and facilities.
