Mat Pilates Classes in Bozeman: Strength, Control, and Steady Movement
Mat Pilates at Root Therapy and Wellness in Bozeman is a small-group class that builds strength from your center out — using nothing but a mat and your own body. Whether it’s your first class or you’ve practiced for years, you’ll find a welcoming room, options for every level, and an hour to focus on moving well.
You don’t need to be strong, fit, or experienced to start. Our instructors keep classes approachable and offer variations for every exercise, so the class meets you where you are and grows with you.
What a Class Feels Like
Mat Pilates is all about control and core strength. Instead of rushing through reps, you move slowly and deliberately, connecting your breath to each exercise. That focus is what makes it so effective — and why people leave feeling both worked and centered. A typical class flows through mat-based exercises that build strength through your midsection and support your whole body.
- Core-focused movement — steady strength from the center out.
- Control and precision — doing each movement well, not fast.
- Mobility and stability — moving freely while staying steady.
- Breath and focus — coordinated breathing that keeps you grounded.
The Mat Pilates Classes at Root
These are the mat classes currently running each week, all taught by Lindsey, a physical therapist assistant on Root’s clinical team. Days and times live on the class schedule, which always shows the current week.
- Form Flow — purposeful pace, whole-body work, and extra stretching built in, with form as the focus throughout. The natural first class for anyone new to Pilates, or anyone who wants a gentler hour.
- Core Sculpt — targeted core sequences blending Pilates fundamentals with sculpting work: deep abdominals, obliques, and the back stabilizers that keep you supported, sometimes with light props.
- Total Body Sculpt — the fullest workout of the set: classical Pilates fused with functional strength work, often with props and light weights. Strong, energizing, and balanced.
- Joint Rejuvenation — a 45-minute class of slow, controlled sequences for stiff joints: gentle activation, mindful pacing, and movement that leaves you feeling looser from head to toe.
- Pilates for Hypermobility (instructor approval) — slow, precise strength work built around the joints for hypermobile bodies: deep muscular support rather than end-range flexibility, with proprioception and stability at the center. Runs several times a week.
The instructor approval class asks you to connect with Lindsey before your first session so the class fits you well — the schedule page explains how.

Mat Pilates as a Wellness Class, Not a Treatment
Mat Pilates at Root is a wellness offering — a class for building strength and a movement habit, not a medical treatment for a specific condition. It sits alongside our clinical care, in the same calm space, but it’s its own thing.
If you’re dealing with pain, an injury, or a condition that needs hands-on care, that’s what our physical therapy and occupational therapy services are for — just ask, and we’ll help you find the right starting point.

Right Here in Bozeman
A friendly, local place to build core strength and a steady movement habit each week.
The staff are friendly, easy to talk to and helpful. Kezia explained to me how scar tissue from surgery can keep the muscles in a tight position. Even with physical therapy the muscles will revert back to the tight position even while keeping up with physical therapy exercises. This is new to me and I can feel everything loosening up. I'm excited to see how much this can help.— S.G. Google review · March 2024
