What your first 60 minutes look like
Your story
We start with what brought you in — your symptoms, your history, and what you want to get back to.
Movement & hands-on exam
Your therapist looks at how you move and examines the area directly, to find not just where it hurts but why.
Your goals
Whether that’s hiking in the Bridgers, sleeping through the night, keeping up with your kids, or getting back to work.
Your plan
You leave with a clear picture of what’s going on, a personalized treatment plan, and usually a few exercises to start at home right away.
Every visit after that is one-on-one too, and your care always builds on the last session. As your needs change, we set you up with the therapist who’s the right fit for what comes next.

That's it — we'll handle the rest
No referral needed for most plans. Most insurance accepted.
Handle your paperwork ahead of time
Intake is a short online packet — the link comes with your booking, it saves as you go, and most people finish in about ten minutes. Done ahead of time, your full hour goes toward your evaluation.

Explore Root PediatricsDo I Need a Referral?
For most plans, no — Montana is a direct-access state, so you can start physical or occupational therapy with us directly. Medicare and Medicaid do require a referral, and we’re happy to help coordinate that with your physician. If we ever find something during your evaluation that needs a doctor’s attention first, we’ll tell you honestly and help you get to the right provider.
Insurance & Payment
We’re in-network with most major Montana plans, and we offer competitive self-pay rates with superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. The full accepted-insurer list, details on out-of-network coverage, and self-pay information all live on our Insurance & Payment page. Not sure where your plan lands? Call or text and we’ll verify your benefits before your first visit as a courtesy — please confirm coverage with your plan as well.
What If I Need to Cancel or Reschedule?
Life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule, call or text (406) 219-5388 at least 24 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations and no-shows may carry a fee ($100, and $175 for repeats) — but if we can reschedule you within the same week and you attend, the fee is waived. And if something outside your control caused the missed visit, talk to us; we review those situations individually.
New Patients Are Always Welcome
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come in — that’s what the evaluation is for. When you’re ready, request an appointment online or call or text (406) 219-5388, and we’ll find a time that works. Most new patients are seen within the same week.
